Camp One: Photo and 3D Print-Making Bootcamp

Lead Instructor: Kiki Siebenaler and Tiffany Kauffman

June 3 – 7, 2024. Monday-Friday, 9am – 4pm

This camp brings together photography and 3D printing to allow campers to express a new and full creativity. They’ll learn all the basics by taking photos around town, creating their own creative piece, and then playing with both our Professional Printer and both of our brand-new 3D printers. Every camper will bring home a favorite photo or 3D printed item.

Camp Three: The Magic of Animation

Lead Instructor: Kiki Siebenaler

June 17-21 2024. Monday-Friday 9am – 4pm

Campers will learn the basics of story structure and create a variety of short animated films that will be screened the following week (on June 28), alongside movies from the one-week Film Festival. Campers will get creative and make characters using clay, toys, and natural objects, like sticks and rocks, making them come to life through the magic of stop-motion animation. Perfect for young illustrators too.

Camp Four: The One-Week Film Festival

Lead Instructor: Dani Cervantes

June 24-28, 2024. Monday-Friday 9am – 4pm

This filmmaking camp offers a dynamic and immersive experience where budding filmmakers have the opportunity to explore their creativity and learn the fundamentals of filmmaking while collaborating with their peers. It will conclude in a big screening event on June 28th, which the whole family can attend! Campers can make any type of film they so choose, so long as it adheres to our content guidelines.

Camp Two: Planet Taos — Action Photography and Video

Lead Instructor: Pete Monro

June 10-14, 2024. Monday-Friday 9am – 4pm

This camp gets our kids into the wild to document wildlife, sports, and play around with time effects in slow motion. Every day, we’ll have hands on cameras or dive into basic editing techniques with TK1-provided laptops. We’ll transport campers to different locations around town every day.

Check out the video below from our 2022 Planet Taos camp!

Camp Five: Coding Robots and Drones

Lead Instructor: Bill Hood

July 8-12 2024. Monday-Friday 9am – 4pm

This camp covers the basics of electronics, robots, drones and programming. Just as we do in our media classes, this will be an intensely hands-on experience (with robots and drones) that will sneakily teach core concepts in binary math, binary logic, the speed of light, time and general nature of electronic circuits. With basic electronics knowledge, we’ll introduce a computer running Linux and a programmable robot called an MBot. We’ll also explore aerodynamics and programming using a Tello drone — giving campers an intro to what makes something fly, and then programming the drone for autonomous flight.
