Professional Pathways Program

WHEN: We’ll meet as often as possible at the TK1 Headquarters Space – 222 Paseo del Pueblo Norte

WHO: Leading this program will be all TK1 Staff, pictured at right.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Email us here.

The Professional Pathways Program is TK1’s new, out-of-school enrichment program. This program will provide Taos youth with invaluable, hands-on experience in using digital-media tools for communications, marketing, and advertising by responding to the needs and demands of the local business community.

Starting in November 2021, and working closely with TK1’s professional staff, students in the Professional Pathways Program will:

·     Solicit business interest in TK1 students documenting their work through photography, video, or written narrative. This could result in a promotional video for a website, an interview for the Taos News, or even a TikTok short.

·     Work closely with that business to create a unique, tailored product worthy of dissemination.

·     Lead final product dissemination via social media, radio, print media, broadcast media as appropriate and possible.

·     Showcase the final product at TK1’s April Media Showcase at the TCA.

This program will also cover important local events for local businesses, including ribbon-cutting ceremonies (as TK1 students did for Kit Carson on October 29, 2021) or a one-time event like an Expo (as TK1 students did for Renewable Taos’ Electric Car Expo on September 25, 2021 – see below!)

Participating students will earn money for their professional work!!! And: receive high-quality mentorship, strengthen media skills, build local social networks (which could turn into summer jobs), and learn first-hand how to use media for entrepreneurial means.

Ultimately, the program will strongly connect Taos schools with the Taos business community, supporting teachers, students, and business leaders.
