Creating Comics for the Digital Age
WHEN: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5:15pm. Starting Tuesday, September 21, 2021 for ages 12-18 and Thursday, September 23, 2021 for ages 8-11.

In this six-week, after-school workshop, students will learn how to create comics and comic books for digital presentation from some incredible, professional comic book teachers, writers, and illustrators. Over this intensive, students will learn about the fundamentals of comic creation, write and illustrate their own comic, and publish their comic on an online platform.
Week 1. Introduction to Creating Comics
Tuesday, September 21 for ages 12-18
Thursday, September 23 for ages 8-11
In this session, we’ll provide an overview of how comics are created and why they are important. Students will begin preparing for creating their comic through brainstorming and idea mapping.
Week 2. Writing Your Comic, Part One
During this week, students will learn about how to write comics effectively and dynamically.
Week 3. Writing Your Comic, Part Two
During this session, students will finalize their comic idea and plan.
Week 4. Illustrating Your Comic
During this session, students will begin working with illustrators to develop their comic into a fully illustrated vision
Week 5. Illustrating Your Comic
During this session, students will finalize their illustration work to prepare their comic for publication.
Week 6. Publishing Your Comic
During this session, students will publish and then promote their comic on a digital platform.
